Full Grant Instructions and Terms

Property Eligibility

1.      Upland Local Register, survey  or National Register

2.     Condition: Projects must address documented needs for preservation and/ or rehabilitation

3.     Ownership or Management: Applicants must have legal authority to carry out the proposed work on the property.

  Project Requirements

                  1. Scope: Projects can include restoration and rehabilitation.

             2. Matching Funds will be awarded when the project is

                       completed.  The applicant needs to submit pictures of the finished project  

                       and a complete summary of the project before the award is given. If the

                       project is less that the amount given, it will be half of the completed

                       amount up to the matching grant amount.

   Application Criteria

1.     Explain the project in detail. Please tell about the project and how it will be accomplished and if you have a contractor or is it a do it yourself project.

2.     Exterior projects are given priority, but restoration of interior is also important. Projects under consideration may include exterior or interior restoration or repair, structural restoration, painting and roofing. Applications should be limited to one selected project, but three applications per home are permitted. ONE APPLICATION PER PROJECT PLEASE.

3.     The project will be judged on its restoration value. The application must include a complete summary on that project and have high-resolution photographs documenting the property’s current condition and architectural details. If painting the exterior, UH Grant Committee must approve the paint colors.

Deadline for application will be November 1, 2026

Grants will be judged by out of town non-partisan judges Nov. 14th and announced at our General Meeting at Armstrong Nursery in Claremont, CA on Nov. 20th

Grant Winners

 The grant winners agree to take pictures after the project is completed and meet with a UH member of the Grant Committee or Executive Board Member in order to obtain the grant money. UH can answer any questions or concerns.  All projects must be completed by November 1,2027or forfeit the money.  Contact Larry Timm, Committee Chair at 909-815- 9356 or Carol Timm at 909-815-9351.

Application Instruction

             . 1. Application Deadline is November 1, 2026.

              2. Applicant Information: is located on the first page.

              3. Designation Details or Survey Reference is found at uplandheritage.org  

                        under Resources. Then go to historic survey to find your property and   

                        designation.

               4.Project Overview: Select a title for your project and its estimated cost and

                         completion date.

               5.Name of Person to Complete the Project: name of the

                       Contractor or person doing the work and relevant experience.

                6. Project Description: Please describe in detail the project and include

                         pictures before and attach to the application. If awarded the grant, you must

                         submit pictures of the completed project and hand in to the UH board the final   

                         pictures before receiving a grant..

                   7. Plan and Materials: Please explain how the project will be completed

                        including materials, finishes and how this will preserve its historic character 

                        or value. (Please feel free to contact UH for consultation.) If you are painting

                        the exterior of a building, the colors must be approved through our Upland  

                        Heritage Grant Committee.

                   8. Project Budget: Complete this portion explaining estimated costs.

Grant Requirements

Please read the grant requirements paragraph listed on the application.  Only submit one project per application. The applicant must provide photographs of the finished project and a complete project summary, and must review the completed work with an Upland Heritage Grant Committee or Executive Board member. The grant proposal must be handed in by November 1, 2026.
